5mm PMMA is strong enough to keep out the wind and it won’t break into sharp shards, it will reduce the risk of hurting people when broken down. 

Additionally, PMMA does not contain the potentially harmful bisphenol-A subunits found in polycarbonate (PC). 

PMMA is a strong, tough, and lightweight material. It has a density of 1.17-1.20 g/cm3, which is less than half that of glass. It also has good impact strength, higher than both glass and polystyrene.

PMMA has a high Scratch resistance, UV tolerance, transmittance than Polycarbonate (PC), so it provide a more clear view for you and it is more durable than PC.

Its environmental stability is superior to most other plastics such as polystyrene and polyethylene, and PMMA is therefore often the material of choice for outdoor applications.
